A Ferryville woman allegedly caused a two-vehicle crash on Highway 35 Friday and has been charged as a result, according to the Crawford County Sheriff’s Department.

On Feb. 24, Michael Schwem, 38, of Mt. Sterling was driving a 2014 Buick Verano south on Highway 35 near River Bluff Drive in Ferryville when a 1999 Honda Passport, operated by Jeannie Boardman, 59, of Ferryville, crossed the center line and struck Schwem’s vehicle head-on.

Schwem’s vehicle came to rest in a turn-around on the west side of Highway 35. It sustained front end damage to the driver’s side. Boardman’s vehicle came to rest on River Bluff Drive and had severe front end damage. Schwem, as well as his two passengers, Lisa Cornwell, 38, of Mt. Sterling, and a juvenile, sustained injuries due to the collision and were treated and released on-scene.

Boardman was transported to Mayo Hospital in La Crosse for her injuries. She was charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of an intoxicant-causing injury, operating left of center and failure to maintain control of her vehicle.

Assisting with the crash was Tri-State Ambulance, Ocooch Mountain Rescue, Ferryville Fire Department, Ferryville First Responders and the La Crosse Police Department.
