O’Kane earns trip
to State Gymnastics Meet

The Prairie du Chien High School gymnastics team scored 107.35 points at the Baraboo Sectional Thursday night.
Dodgeville-Mineral Point won the meet with 132.375. Viroqua Co-op was second with 128.45. Baraboo had 126.75, Sauk Prairie 123.725, River Valley 114, Reedsburg 111.725, and Westby 111.35.
Kylee O’Kane, a Prairie du Chien freshman, took second in the uneven bars with a score of 7.95 to earn a trip to the State Gymnastics Meet at Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln High School on Saturday, March 4. Competition begins at approximately 11:15 a.m.
O’Kane was 11th in the all around with a total of 31.175. She scored 7.625 on the floor exercise, 7.45 on the balance beam, and 8.15 on the vault.
“Kylee has been a great asset to the team this year. She, as a freshman, has really stepped up as a leader,” said Coach Amber Narvaez. “She’s always willing to step up and help her teammates with learning new skills. She has worked very hard to get where she’s at today and I am very proud of her.”
Mckenzie Pettit was 20th in the all around with 27.050 points. She had 7.050 on the floor, 6.2 on the beam, 8.15 on the vault and 5.65 on the bars.
Madyson Boxrucker was 22nd in the all around with a total of 26.0. She had 6.6 on the floor, 6.85 on the beam, 7.9 on the vault and 4.65 on the bars.
Liz Woltz was 25th in the all around with a score of 23.125. She had 5.425 on the floor, 4.7 on the beam, 7.9 on the vault and 5.1 on the bars.
Jerica Rush had 5.175 on the floor, 4.3 on the beam and 2.0 on the bars.
“This year has been a great year,” said Narvaez. “The team has learned many new skills and with such a young team they will just keep improving. The way the team has come together was great to watch as a coach. Prairie du Chien gymnastics keeps growing every year. I am excited to see this program keep moving forward.”
Kylee is the daughter of Marvin and Lynn O’Kane.
