Loyde Melvin Beers
Loyde Melvin Beers, 78, of Eastman, died Saturday, Feb. 25, at home with his family near him.
Loyde was born June 10, 1938, to Francis and Leone (Nies) Beers. Loyde was the third of four children, Ruth (Don), Leon (Ann) and Corrine (Joe). Loyde attended grade school in Wauzeka and finished high school in Seneca. After high school, he farmed the family farm with his father, played in a band, hauled milk and drove school bus.
Loyde was an avid ball player, playing for Slama’s Bar. He also enjoyed hunting. His big passion was playing for the band Hank and the Night Owls, which later became Loyde and the Night Owls.
He married his high school sweetheart Patsy Kramer in June of 1960. They were blessed with six children, 12 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. They reside on the family farm. Loyde served as a Swiss Valley Farms Board Member for 35 years. He was also the Community Club President in Eastman for many years.
Loyde is survived by his wife, Patsy, of 56 years; three sons, Loyde (Penny), Bob (Sharon), and Jim (special friend Sue); three daughters, Judy (Tim), Sandy (fiancée Donnie), and Debbie (special friend Jamie).
Loyde is preceded in death by his parents; sister Ruth; brother Leon; and daughter-in-law Vickie.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, March 4, at 1 p.m. at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Eastman, Rev. Thomas Huff will be officiating, with burial in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Saturday, from 9 a.m. until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Eastman Community Club, Eastman First Responders or the Eastman Fire Dept. The Garrity Funeral Home of Prairie du Chien is assisting the family.
