We lost one of our best. Kirk U’Ren, 37, of Cottage Grove, formerly of Mineral Point, died on Sunday, Feb. 12, as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident, enroute to the UW Badger game with his cherished wife, Jenni.

He was born Nov. 15, 1979, to Ron and Geri (Palzkill) U’Ren. Kirk was raised and schooled in Mineral Point, graduating in 1998. He was the best Wisconsin State Journal deliverer and altar server. He earned his degree in Managerial Business from UW-Platteville and managed several Madison area Walmarts. He was most recently a District Manager for Pepsi Co., DeForest.

Kirk was a huge Badger, Packer, Brewer and Duke fan and a passionate sports player all his life. He was a sincere people person, with great eye contact, smiles for those he met and was known for his strong work ethic. His greatest accomplishment was marrying Jenni Steiner on Aug. 26, 2011, and settling in Cottage Grove. He was the best husband and greatest dad.

Kirk leaves behind Jenni; his precious twin sons, Kaden Kirk and Grayson Russell; his dog Patches; his parents, Ron and Geri U’Ren; his in-laws, Mary and Russ Steiner; his brother Sean; his sister Tasha (Bruce) Baker and their family Alix (Allan Siekert), Tess and Carson Baker; his brothers-in-law, Chuck (Carmen) and Bryce Steiner and Jason (Val), Adam, Aaron and Andrew Steiner; and many other relatives and countless friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, Feb. 18, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Mary & Paul’s Catholic Church in Mineral Point. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery at a later date. A visitation will be held on Saturday, from 9 to 11:30 a.m., at the church. The family encourages all to attend in Badger attire and please join them for lunch in the Catholic Center. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorials for Kaden and Grayson.
