Dorothy B. Breuer, 101, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 17, at Atrium Post Acute Care in Lancaster. 

 

She was born July 15, 1915, the daughter of Matthias and Frances (Meyer) Zenz. On Sept. 14, 1937, she was united into marriage to Leonard J. Breuer. Together they farmed on the Breuer Family Farm in Bloomington Township. 

 

Dorothy was a devoted member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Glen Haven and its Altar Society. She enjoyed trips to Ma’s Bakery, her gardening, flowers, quilting and especially a Brandy Old Fashioned made right. Dorothy dearly loved her family and keeping up with their activities.

 

Surviving are her children Norma Jean Prew, Barbara (Mark) Martin, Virginia (John) Klema, Maureen (Harold “Buzz”) Osterhaus, David (Barb), Dale (Denise) and Mike (Barbara) Breuer; 32 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; nieces; nephews; and two sisters-in-law, Anne Wagner and Agatha Breuer. 

 

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 50 years, Leonard; a son-in-law Richard Prew; a sister Letha (Reaford) Reuter; brothers Robert (Emaline), Anthony “Tony” (Florence) and Wilfred Zenz; brothers-in-law, Anthony “Tony” Wagner and Fred Breuer.

 

Funeral services will be held on Monday, Jan. 23, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bloomington, with Father John Meinholz and Father Sam Martin officiating. Burial will be in Gockel Cemetery, Glen Haven Township. Family and friends may call on Sunday, Jan. 22, from 1 until 4 p.m., with a 12:45 p.m. parish rosary prayer. Friends may also call on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until time of services at the church. Memorials may be directed to St. Mary’s Catholic School in Bloomington.
