Roy “Roxie” Engelhardt, 86, of Cascade, died Thursday, December 29, 2016, at Shady Rest Care Center in Cascade. Roy “Roxie” William Engelhardt, Jr. was born on the family farm, rural St. Olaf, February 2, 1930, to Roy William and Lillian Ruth (Wold) Engelhardt Sr. Roy graduated from Central Community High School in 1948. 

Roy was united in marriage to Karen (Lindroth) Engelhardt on April 18, 1958, at Norway Lutheran Church. The couple was blessed with three daughters.

They farmed in the St. Olaf area for years and Roy worked as an agronomist at the Elkader Co-op until his retirement in 1993. He continued farming until he sold the farm in September 2006, and moved to Manchester with his wife. He was a lifelong member of Norway Lutheran Church, where he served on the board, choir and helped with numerous projects at church.

He was an avid golfer, and had two holes in one at the Elkader golf club. He enjoyed 

Hawkeye sports and was a lifelong Cubs fan. In his free time, he loved bowling and played on a local league for over 30 years; but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife Karen of Dyersville; daughters, Julie Ann (Denny) Kingdon of Oelwein, Jean Ann Engelhardt (special friend, Doug Svendson) of Alta and Jennifer Ruth (Matt) Kreeb of Dyersville; six grandchildren, Jason (Hiliary) Burns, Sierra (Pete) Olsen, Meagan (Zach) Dearborn, Lilly Kreeb, Elizabeth Kreeb and James Kreeb; two great-grandchildren, Lucy Dearborn and Garrison Roy Burns.

Roy was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Ruth Strathman. 

Funeral services were held at 1 a.m. on Tuesday, January 3, 2017, at Norway Lutheran Church, rural St. Olaf with Rev. Marshall Hahn officiating. Interment was at Norway Lutheran Cemetery, rural St. Olaf. There was a visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday, January 2, 2017, at Norway Lutheran Church and one hour before services on Tuesday at the church
