Joanne Frances Donahue Cassutt, 86, longtime resident of Elkader, passed away peacefully Tuesday, January 3, 2017, at the Elkader Nursing Home. She was born February 2, 1930, to Mabel (Cronin) and Ernest Donahue in Marquette, Iowa. Joanne went to school in Marquette prior to moving to Elkader to work at Northwestern Bell Telephone Company. 

She married Raymond Leo Cassutt on December 12, 1956. Together they raised two children on the family farm. She was a loving wife, wonderful mother and a doting grandmother.

 Joanne worked for many years at the Telephone Company and Theis Clothing. Her main focus though was always her kids, their activities and making a happy home. She and Ray enjoyed many years of fun with the bridge club and extended family. A lot of good times were had at the Cassutt Farm.

 Joanne is survived by her son Daniel (Jennifer) and their children Tyler and Annie; daughter Mary (Jesse) and children Claire and Daniel.

 She was preceded in death by her husband Ray in 1996, her parents and brother Ernest.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Friday, January 6, 2017, at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Elkader with Rev. Paul Peters officiating. Inurnment was at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Elkader. There was a visitation from 9 a.m. until service time at the church on Friday.
