Mitsuko “Mitchi” Weaver, 83, of McGregor, Iowa passed away Thursday, Dec. 8, at the Great River Care Center in McGregor. 

 

Mitsuko, the daughter of Fusao and Yukino (Kurihara) Otani, was born Sept. 29, 1933, in Japan. She attended school in Japan and China. Mitchi worked as a clerk/typist for the United States Navy in Sasebo, Japan. She met her husband, Jerry Weaver, while working with the Navy and was united in marriage with him in 1965. Jerry and Mitchi came to the United States when he was transferred and twin sons, James and Robert, were born to this union. Jerri and Mitchi later divorced. Mitchi was then united in marriage with Donald Royal Parmenter.

 

Mitchi enjoyed playing the slot machines and playing bingo, classical music, painting, travelling, and spending time with her grandchildren. 

 

Mitchi is survived by two sons, James (Tina) Weaver, of Bagley, and Robert (Carrie) Weaver, of Bellevue, Iowa; eleven grandchildren, Jim, Bryce, Brianna, Jordan, Mason, Dakota, Jordy, Ashley, Dustyn, Brandon, and Sophia; two great grandchildren, Drex and Josie; and two brothers, Shinya Otani and Hiromi Otani, of Sasebo, Japan.

 

Mitchi was preceded in death by her husband, Don Parmenter; her parents; a granddaughter; two brothers; and one sister.

 

Celebration of life services will be held at a later date. 

 

Thornburg-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Prairie du Chien, is assisting the family with the arrangements.
