On Saturday, Dec. 3, the Prairie du Chien Blackhawk wrestling team traveled to Nicolet High School for their 2016 Scramble. There were 10 participating teams. Aside from PdC, which is a Division 2 school, the other nine teams were all larger Division 1 schools. 

The Blackhawks came to wrestle, and had a very successful day, with 42 wins against 28 losses. Overall, PdC came in third with 210 points, behind first place Elkhorn (264.5) and Menomonee Falls (225). As individuals, the Blackhawks crowned three champions in Reid Koenig (120#), Nick Rogge (152#), and Stephen Ronnfeldt (195#) and three runners up in Blake Garcia (126#), Tyler Smock (145#), and Ethan Swiggum (182#).  

It was a great opening weekend for the Blackhawks. Many falls were recorded and bonus points scored. PdC hosts MFL Mar/Mac on Thursday evening at 7 p.m. in nonconference grappling. It will also be Parents’ Night, sponsorship appreciation, and the second annual gun raffle drawing. On Saturday, the Blackhawks travel to the Dells Duals Classic with action starting at 9 a.m. Go Blackhawks!
