Hattie Eva Appleton, 103, of Guttenberg, died Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2016, at her home.

Visitation was before services at the funeral home.

Funeral services were Friday, Oct. 28, at Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home, conducted by Rev. Penny Hansel.

Interment was at Guttenberg City Cemetery.

Hattie was born in Greeley on June 29, 1913, the daughter of William and Elizabeth (Torrey) Schrunk. 

On June 21, 1942, Hattie was united in marriage to Carroll Appleton in Long Beach, Calif. Together they owned and operated Appleton Funeral Home in Edgewood for many years before retirement. Hattie was a member of the United Methodist Church and a lifetime member of the Order of the Eastern Star Minnehaha Chapter #344 Colesburg. Hattie spent her last six years on her family’s home farm living with Art and Julie. 

Those left to cherish her memory are Hattie’s sister, Louise Ludovissy; sister-in-law, Hope Schenke and many nieces, nephews, family and friends. 

Hattie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Carroll in 1981; sisters, Berdina Smith and Dorothy Gage.
