The Prairie du Chien High School boys soccer team ended their regular season with a tough 9-0 loss to the 12-time State Finalist, 6-time State Champion, Prairie Hawks of The Prairie School at Wind Point Thursday night.
The Blackhawks finished the regular season with an outstanding record of 19-2-1. They earned both the Southwest Conference and Regional Championship title in addition to advancing to the Sweet Sixteen in WIAA Division 4 State Tournament Play.
All 11 starters earned All Conference recognition. Captain’s Chas Sagedahl, Evan Teynor and Jack Stoeffler, along with Wesley Schwager and Nathan Specht were named to the First Team. Jon Dyer, Nathaniel Oehler and Nolan Stram were named to the Second Team and Andrew Waller, Preston Hendrix and Mark Welter were named Honorable Mention.
The Hawks scored a record 83 goals this season and gave up only 25 with goalie Wes Schwager having 190 saves. Eleven different players scored for the Hawks this season. Leading scorers on the team included Chas Sagedahl with 21, Jon Dyer with 19, Jack Stoeffler with 17, Preston Hendrix with 7, Nathaniel Oehler with 5 and defenders Evan Teynor and Nathan Specht with 8 and 2, respectively. Underclassmen scorers in addition to Hendrix included sophomores Mark Welter, Weston Hill and Clayton DuCharme and freshman Josh Dyer.
This ends the 10th season of boys high school soccer at Prairie du Chien High School. In comparison, The Prairie School’s program began in 1972. The Prairie du Chien team has 61 wins, 121 losses and 13 ties overall. Thirty-five different athletes have combined for 327 goals over the decade.
