James “Bud” McCarthy
James “Bud” McCarthy, 86, of Milton, died on Wednesday, Aug. 10, at home.
He was born in Wauzeka, on Nov. 1, 1929, the son of James N. and Elsie (Lathrop) McCarthy. He served in the U.S. Navy and married Dorothy H. Rau on Oct. 19, 1951. She preceded him in death on Aug. 11, 2000. James was a member of the Wauzeka American Legion, UAW Local 95, and a former member of the Loyal Order of Moose. He was a great story teller, loved to hunt and fish, he enjoyed farming, and spending time with family and friends.
He is survived by his six children, Debra Hayes of Madison, Cheryl (Mark) Mitchell of Green Bay, Michael (Janet) McCarthy, Mark (Karen) McCarthy, Kelly (Kathy) McCarthy all of Janesville and Paul (Mary) McCarthy of Edgerton; thirteen grandchildren, Eric (Casey) Hayes, Craig Hayes, Staci (Justin) Warfield, Jason Mitchell, Aaron (Leah Champion) McCarthy, Allison (Justin Neumeier) McCarthy, Kevin (Jennifer) McCarthy, Brent (Ashley) McCarthy, Kami McCarthy, Megan (Jesse) Cline, Leann (Robb) Harris, Ann (Neal) Loback, and Stephanie (Danny Phillips) Abuya; five great grandchildren, Cameron, Kenzie, Evelyn, Vera, and another expected in January; three siblings, Virginia (Harold) Culver, MaryAlice (Don) Osterhaus and Midge (Chuck) Bailey; special friend, Lorraine Jacques; other extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; two brothers, Ray and Don; son-in-law, George Hayes; and granddaughter, Jessie McCarthy.
A funeral service will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 15, at Schneider Funeral Home & Crematory with Rev. David Timmerman officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
