 Lorenzo “Louie” Sutton Jr., 81, of Prairie du Chien, died Friday, Aug. 5, at Great River Care Center, McGregor, Iowa. 

He was born Jan. 26, 1935 to Lorenzo Harold and Iona (Benhart) Sutton in Prairie du Chien. Lorenzo graduated from Seneca High School in 1952. He entered into the United States Marine Corp, served in the Korean War and was honorably discharged.

Lorenzo was united in marriage with Marilyn A. Pake on Oct. 10, 1959 in Lynxville. Louie worked for American Motors in Milwaukee for ten years, Johnson’s One Stop for a few years and retiring from 3M after working there for twenty-five years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching and playing basketball, bird watching, gardening, traveling, word searches, playing cards and playing horseshoes in his younger years. He was a strong supporter of the local food pantries. Louie loved spending time with his family and was very proud of all their accomplishments.

Louie is survived by his sons, Scott (Cindy) Sutton of Prairie du Chien, Jon Sutton of Rockville, Md. and Kevin Sutton of Hudson, Wis.; step-granddaughter, Sara Zimmer of Boscobel; step great-granddaughter, Addyson Krause of Boscobel and many nieces and nephews.

Louie was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn; his parents, Lorenzo and Iona Sutton; daughter, Amy Sutton; son, David Sutton; sisters, Dorothy Key and Evelyn Sutton and brothers, Virgil Sutton, Allen Sutton and Roger Sutton.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 11, at Thornburg-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Prairie du Chien. There will be a one hour visitation from 1 to 2 p.m. before services at the funeral home on Thursday.

Burial will follow at Dickson Ridge Cemetery, Lynxville. In lieu of flowers, please support your local food pantry.
