Robert Koebel Liechty, 95, of Guttenberg, died Saturday, July 2, 2016, at the Guttenberg Care Center.

Visitation will be Thursday, July 14, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:20 a.m. at Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home, Guttenberg.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, July 14, at the funeral home, conducted by Rev. Penny Hansel.

Interment will be at Guttenberg City Cemetery, Guttenberg.

Robert was born on Nov. 13, 1920, in Wayland, the son of Aaron and Lovina (Koebel) Liechty.

Robert received his education from the Wayland High School and the first half of his career was spent farming. For the second half, Robert worked as a carpenter.

On Feb. 15, 1958, Robert was united in marriage with Ruby Kindred at the Methodist Church in Washington.

Robert loved to tease and joke with his friends and family. He always had a quick comeback for everyone including grandchildren, nieces and nephews and more recently workers at the care center. He enjoyed building and carpentry and in his retirement it developed into a love of woodcrafting that he and his wife, Ruby, would work on together. He also began carving after retirement and shared his completed projects with everyone. He loved to play games and even learned to play euchre at age 90 which he enjoyed playing whenever he had the chance. He loved listening to music and playing bingo at the care center, and he always had a story to tell. He loved to watch the Iowa Hawkeyes and kept their schedule handy. His wisdom and knowledge at 95 years old were shared frequently with everyone and especially, with his grandchildren.

Robert is survived by his two children, Sherie (Tom) Tujetsch of Guttenberg and Larry (Kathy) Liechty of Seattle, Wash.; four grandchildren, Andy (fiancé Danielle) Tujetsch, Ellen (Michael) Sinkey, Erin and Maggie Liechty and many other relatives and friends.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ruby; sister, Lois Jones and brother, Benjie Liechty.
