Teen injured in a rollover crash Friday

An area teenager was injured and his vehicle severely damaged in a one-vehicle rollover Friday morning, April 29, in the village of Steuben, according to the Crawford County Sheriff’s Department.

On Friday, at 7:39 a.m., the sheriff’s department was notified of a crash with injuries on Stockyard Road, about four-tenths of a mile south of Drake Road in Steuben.

Garrett Groom, 16, of Steuben, was traveling south on Stockyard Road when he lost control of his 2000 Dodge Dakota pickup while negotiating a curve. The truck went off the west side shoulder, causing Groom to lose control of his vehicle. He attempted to regain control, overcorrected, crossed both lanes of the road, and went over the east side embankment, causing the vehicle to overturn.

Groom sustained injuries from the crash and was transported by family to Crossing Rivers Health for treatment of his injuries. Groom’s truck sustained severe damage and was towed from the scene by Bob’s Towing and Repair.

The crash remains under investigation.
