Mine reserve study group to meet

The mine reserve study group for Clayton County will meet Thursday, March 31, Thursday, April 14 and Thursday, April 28, at 5:30 p.m. The March 31 meeting will be held at Central State Bank, 200 N. Main St., Elkader, in the “Community Room” at the bank’s drive-up facility. Thereafter, for meetings on April 14 and 28, the committee will meet at the Clayton County Office Building, 600 Gunder Road NE, Elkader. Members of the public are welcome to attend and listen, and now will have an opportunity to comment if they wish. The committee will take public comments in writing which may be unsigned but need to be brief and limited to one per person per meeting. Comments or questions may be placed in a comments box any time during the meeting. Verbal comments from visitors will not be entertained by the committee. 

The group was formed in response to a request from Pattison Sand to rezone over 700 acres of land along Great River Road from agricultural to commercial for underground mining, and seeks to answer a variety of questions and concerns raised by the request.
