Prairie girls trounce Platteville

The Prairie du Chien Lady Blackhawks clinched an opportunity for the sectional championship by dismantling the Platteville Hillmen 70-52 in a Division 3 sectional semifinal at Baraboo High School Thursday night.

A close first half was succeeded in the second half by an avalanche of Blackhawk field goals that thwarted any chance of a Hillmen comeback.

Brooke Trautsch led the Hawks with 24 points while Kelsey Achenbach added 21 points. Once again, Lindsey Welter contributed significantly off the bench, adding 15 points.

The Blackhawks traveled to Sun Prairie to take on the Madison Edgewood Crusaders on Saturday in the Sectional final for a birth to state.

The fifth-seeded Blackhawks were 15-9 overall following their defeat of Platteville. The fourth-seeded Crusaders were 19-6 after defeating second seeded Marshall 70-64 Thursday night.
