A 39-year-old Prairie du Chien man has been charged in Crawford County Circuit Court with one count of possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine.

Christopher A. Fernette faces up to 15 years in prison and a $50,000 fine if convicted.

According to the criminal complaint, a sheriff’s department deputy saw Fernette pull into the driveway of a residence of an individual known by the deputy to be involved in controlled substances.

Fernette later drove the vehicle to a parking lot of a store. The deputy then deployed his K-9 on the vehicle while Fernette was in the store, and the dog “hit” on several locations on the vehicle, the complaint said.

A search of the vehicle revealed a camera case with numerous items of suspected controlled substances and paraphernalia, including three small plastic baggies containing a clear crystalline substance. Three smoking devices and a plastic container containing suspected marijuana were also found, according to the complaint. Field tests revealed the presence of methamphetamine and marijuana, the complaint said.
Fernette admitted to the deputy that he sells methamphetamine in the Prairie du Chien area, according to the complaint.

A 38-year-old Prairie du Chien woman has been charged in Crawford County Circuit Court with one count of possession of methamphetamine.

Jill Marie Schroeder faces up to 3.5 years in prison and a $10,000 fine if convicted.

According to the criminal complaint, police were dispatched to the parking lot at Prairie Cinema in Prairie du Chien on Jan. 26 on a report of a vehicle driving recklessly and doing “donuts” in the parking lot.

Upon arrival, police identified Schroeder as the person sitting in the driver’s seat asleep. The officer was then informed by dispatch that there was an active arrest warrant for Schroeder.

A search of Schroeder’s vehicle turned up a pink bag which contained a spoon with a large amount of burned residue, three syringes, and a plastic straw containing a white powdery residue, the complaint said.

The residue on the spoon tested positive for opiates, the complaint said.

Schroeder admitted to police officers that she ingested prescription medication, methamphetamine, and marijuana that evening, the complaint said.
