 Martin L. “Marty” Ohlert, 75, of Prairie du Chien passed away on his 75th birthday Friday, Feb. 26. 

He was born Feb. 26, 1941 in Prairie du Chien the son of LeRoy and Zola (Martin) Ohlert. He served in the US Army. Marty married Alice Snyder on Feb. 10, 1974 in Coon Valley. He worked as an interior designer for Statz Home Furnishings and later sold drapery for the Countryside Workshop. Most recently Marty worked in mobile home sales. 

He is survived by his wife Alice of Prairie du Chien; his children, Russell (Nancy) Cornford of Coon Valley, Randy (Cinda) Cornford of Prairie du Chien, Robinlynn (Andrew) Fortier of North Freedom, Phillip (Penny) Ohlert and Brian (Rachel) Ohlert both of Prairie du Chien; his sister Lee (Don) Gordon of Marquette, Iowa; twelve grandchildren and two great grandchildren a foster son Felipe Benitz. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Bruce Ohlert.

A memorial visitation will be Thursday, March 3, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Garrity Funeral Home Chapel in Prairie du Chien. Military honors will be accorded by the Prairie du Chien Honor Guard. A private family inurnment will be later in the Evergreen Cemetery in Prairie du Chien.
