Plans are underway for the 2016 Eagle Watch and Cabin Fever Day in Guttenberg, organized by Guttenberg Development and Tourism and held at the Marina Visitor's Center.

The event is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 13, and will include a presentation by a new organization, Raptor Advocacy, Rehabilitation, and Education (RARE). Luke Hart, formerly of MacBride Raptor Center, is expected to bring several live birds of prey for the event.

Back by popular demand, the second annual chili cookoff is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the visitor's center. Due to the overwhelming response to last year's call for entries, the 2016 cookoff will accept just eight entries. The first eight chili chefs to contact GD&T director Emily Moser at 252-2323 will be allowed to showcase their special recipes on the 13th and will then be eligible to win the contest, which is judged by popular vote. Deadline for entry is Feb. 10.

A new activity planned for this year is the Siberian Scavenger Hunt, a photographic scavenger hunt for eagle and river themed objects in Guttenberg. An ice carver will also entertain spectators.
