Once upon a time, on Feb. 2, 1945, a beautiful baby girl was brought into this world. Her parents named her Toni Kay and she grew up to be one of the most loving, generous, kindhearted and memorable people to grace this earth. Toni was the only woman with the ability to be 29 years of age for more than 40 years!

In her "29" years of life, she brightened the lives of many and made numerous unforgettable memories with us all. She loved sipping margaritas on the beaches of Mexico, waterskiing on the Mississippi River, taking long walks with friends, drinking red wine and eating chocolate, but most importantly she loved helping others. In her many years of giving back, she accomplished amazing things. The words helpful and selfless don't begin to describe who Toni was. If you enjoy reading, you can thank her for being an instrumental part of building the new library in Guttenberg.

She was also one of the original organizers of the Guttenberg Germanfest, and continued to volunteer for the event all 25 years. So, in the years to come, drink a beer and give cheers to Toni. She also gave back through the Hospital Auxiliary, The Creativity Center, Guttenberg Rec Board, senior citizens' meals, and let's not forget all of those perms and haircuts she gave most of us over the years at her "shop," Toni's Hair Co!

It seems as though Toni was taken from us too soon, but she would say that her work here was done. On Dec. 23, 2015, Toni left behind an untouchable legacy and had asked for one simple thing before she was called to an appointment she could not refuse. She left us with mandatory instructions to celebrate the mission she accomplished here, which is now complete. We will all remember her kind heart, her warmth, her energy, and most of all, her selflessness and love for everyone in her life.

Toni leaves behind her children, Robin Fishback and Dirk Fishback; stepdaughters, Katie Von Rox and Sara (Courtney) Holmes; grandchildren, Jaimie Lynch, Amber (Kim) Abreo, Dani Schmitt, Tavian Schuster, Jackson and Josiah Holmes; great-grandchildren, DeAndre Austin, Jr. and Julien Abreo; siblings, Ed (Carolyn) Knoot, Dixie (Bob) McCall and Beckie (Jim) Eakin; as well as many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

Toni was preceded in death by her parents, her stepdaughter, Rachel Schuster, and her niece, Nikki Lathrop Corbett.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Toni Schuster Memorial Fund.

Toni's family would like to sincerely thank the doctors and nurses in ICU at Mercy Medical Center.

A celebration of Toni's life was held Sunday, Dec. 27, at Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home, Guttenberg.
