2 separate accidents reported, 2 men charged

On Saturday, Dec. 5 at 6 a.m., the Crawford Sheriff’s Department was notified of two separate motor vehicle accidents.

A rollover accident was reported in Bridgeport Township on Vineyard Road at Hillview Drive.

It was later determined that the accident had taken place about 1:30 a.m. A 2002 Toyota owned and operated by Nicholas Kurt, 36, of Prairie du Chien, was eastbound on Vineyard Road. He failed to make a left turn onto Hillview Drive and came to rest upside down in the ditch.

There were no reported injuries. The vehicle had unknown damage and was removed by Bob’s Towing.

Assisting at the scene was the Prairie du Chien Fire Department.

Nicholas Kurt was charged with failure to report an accident.

At the same time, a one-vehicle accident was reported in Haney Township on Highway 131 near Juddy Smith Road.

It was later determined that this accident had taken place about 4:30 a.m. A 1996 Honda owned and operated by Dylan Krachey-Yahn, 18, of Wauzeka, was southbound on Highway 131 when he fell asleep and left the road. Krachey-Yahn was treated at Crossing Rivers Health for injuries.

The vehicle was removed by Terry’s Tire and Tow.

Krachey-Yahn was charged with OWI and operating while suspended.
