One full-time officer and one reserve officer have joined the Mar-Mac Unified Law Enforcement District.

Joining the department full-time is Brad McNett. He replaces Dylan Rumph, who departed over the summer for a position at the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office. With McNett’s addition, Mar-Mac will have three full-time officers, including police chief Jason Bogdonovich and officer Rodger Sear.

McNett, 21, is a Prairie du Chien native and holds a degree in law enforcement from Southwest Wisconsin Technical College in Fennimore, Wis. He is a big baseball fan, with his favorite team being the Milwaukee Brewers. He also enjoys spending time with friends and family.

“I look forward to getting to know the people [of Marquette and McGregor] and helping them out,” he said.

Serving the department on a reserve basis will be Jakob Regal. Regal, 25, grew up in McGregor, where he currently resides with his wife Tiffany. He has served with the Army National Guard for nearly eight years, including a tour in Afghanistan. He is a member of the McGregor American Legion and AMVETS and also serves on the board of commissioners for Clayton County Veterans Affairs. In addition, he has been a member of McGregor Hook and Ladder Co. No. 1 for five years.

Regal, who will pursue a degree in law enforcement at Upper Iowa University beginning in January, said he was drawn to the profession because of a desire to protect the community.

“Being in the military, that’s ingrained,” he said, “so I’d like to experience that from the law enforcement side.”
