Doris A. (Huggett) Spiller, 74, resident of Bethel Nursing Home Viroqua, died Friday Sept. 4, at the nursing home. 

Doris was born to Lorene Andrea (Hutson) and Floyd Wheaton Huggett, June 1, 1941.

Doris Ann was a nurse at Gundersen for over 20 years; she cared for patients with great passion. She loved her grandkids, nieces, nephews, cousins and the family get-togethers. She enjoyed the family farm where she grew up. She loved to laugh, and her smile filled a room with joy. She was a caring, nurturing person not only at work but in life as well always willing to help others when possible. 

She enjoyed the yearly Holiday Fair. She enjoyed auctions and garage sales. She enjoyed all types of animals, especially dogs. She enjoyed all types of music from several genres. She enjoyed Packer games. She was a special person because of her honesty, her positive outlook on life, and her strong faith with God. She will truly be missed by all her family and friends.

She is survived by her only child, Bob Spiller of La Crosse; four grandchildren, Danielle, Karissa, Jared and Derek Spiller of Prairie du Chien; sisters, Sally Parsons of Gig Harbor, Wash., Polly Langan of Springfield, Ill.; and sister-in-law, Rita (Huggett) (Reuben) Lemke of Sparta.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents Floyd and Lorene (Hutson) Huggett; brother John T. Huggett; sister Nancy Johnson, and nephew Timothy R. Williams.

Funeral services were held, Sunday, Sept. 6, at the Torkelson Page-Smith Funeral Home in Sparta. Pastor Ray Diaz officiated. Burial will be at a later date in the Union Cemetery, Big Creek, rural Sparta. Online condolences may be offered at www.torkelsonfuneralhome.com.
