Roger B. Helgerson Sr., 79, of Prairie du Chien passed away Thursday, Aug. 27, at his home. 

He was born Dec. 5, 1935 in Westby, the son of Otto and Della (DeWitt) Helgerson. After his graduation from high school Roger entered the US Army and served during the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War before retiring from service. He also farmed near Brodtville. 

He is survived by his children, Roger Helgerson Jr. of Millville, Jonathan Helgerson and Elizabeth Helgerson both of Prairie du Chien; his sisters, Dorothy Meng of Bagley, and Patricia Siverhus of Beloit, sisters-in-law Janet and Linda Helgerson; nine grandchildren; two great grandchildren; along with numerous nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by a son Carl; his parents; siblings, Beverly Wolford, Jerry and Jackie Helgerson and Mary Avercamp; along with his special friend Iris Wagner.

Funeral services were Monday, Aug. 31, at the United Methodist Church in Boscobel, with Rev. Stan Pegram officiating. Interment with military honors will be in the Salem Ridge Cemetery in LaFarge.
