Patrica A. Smith, 72, of Prairie du Chien, died Tuesday, Aug. 25, at her residence in Prairie du Chien. 

Pat was born Feb. 23, 1943, in Lancaster, the daughter of Harley and Esther (Brandemuehl) Foster. On April 2, 1977, she married Dr. Clifford Smith. Together they spent many years raising Appaloosa horses in rural Prairie du Chien. Clifford preceded her in death on May 11, 2010. In later years, she enjoyed planting flowers, watching the birds and other wildlife that visited her home. Pat also enjoyed scrapbooking, card stamping, relaxing in the pool, and camping parties with her family at her home. 

In addition to her parents and Clifford, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Jim Mitchell.

Survivors include her sister, Dolores Reed; a brother, Jack Foster, both of Lancaster; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Aug. 29, at 11 a.m. at Schwartz Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Lancaster with Pastor Mark Hoehne officiating. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Lancaster. Family and friends may call on Saturday from 9 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home.
