Fire at River’s Edge Motel in Ferryville

Several area fire departments responded to the fire at the River's Edge Motel in Ferryville Tuesday.

On Tuesday, July 21, at approximately 5:35 p.m., the Crawford County Sheriff's Department was notified of a structure fire at the River's Edge Motel in the village of Ferryville.

 

Several agencies assisted at the scene, which included the Ferryville, De Soto, Seneca, Wheatland, and Bridgeport fire departments. The Ferryville First Responders and Ocooch Mountain Rescue were also on standby.
 
The River's Edge Motel was not occupied. However, the one apartment above the motel was being rented out. There was severe damage to the upper apartment and to the detached storage shed behind the motel. No one was injured in the fire. The River's Edge Motel is owned by Barbara Dunkelberger.
 
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
