Guttenberg’s River of Music, a free summer concert series for residents and guests,  will return after a July Fourth holiday hiatus on Friday, July 10, when the Guttenberg German Band takes the stage from 6:00-8:00 p.m.

The German Band has become reknown for its authentic German play list of polkas and other traditional melodies. The band was formed in 1986 to play for a polka mass, and then became the centerpiece entertainment for the community's Germanfest celebration for the past 25 years.

The concert will take place in the band shell in the park along the river north of the school near China Street. Concert goers should bring their own lawn chair or blanket and are encouraged to bring picnic baskets and coolers and enjoy dinner or snacks during the concert. Wine and beer are allowed. However, glass bottles are not permitted.

The event is sponsored by Umbrella Arts, an initiative of Shepherd Gallery and Creativity Center.

In case of rain or fish flies, the event will be moved to the third floor auditorium of the Guttenberg Municipal Building.  Signs  will be posted at the band shelter and at the city building to let the public know about the change in concert location.
