coming to Prairie du Chien

Hibbett Sporting Goods, Inc., the national sporting goods retailer based in Birmingham, Ala., is pleased to announce the execution of a lease for a new store in the Prairie du Chien area.
Hibbett Sports plans to open the new location next to the Department of Motor Vehicles at Riverside Square. Work is being done in the 4,160-square-foot store which is scheduled to be open by mid-October.
“Depending on construction, this may change a little and we will know an exact date as it gets closer to October,” said Lacy Ritenburgh, a representative of Hibbett Sports, who noted that the store anticipates employing eight full and part-time team members.
Hibbett has eight locations in Wisconsin, including Platteville, Richland Center and Tomah. Hibbett is a fast-growing operator of more than 1,000 full-line sporting goods stores in small to mid-sized markets in 32 states predominantly in the Southeast, Mid-Atlantic and Midwest. The strategy of being the only sporting goods chain committed to serving small and mid-size markets has proven to be a successful one for Hibbett as the company continues to expand its number of stores across the United States.
Hibbett Sports stores have a focus on knowledgeable, friendly customer service and providing customers with information they can’t always get at other stores selling sporting goods, said Ritenburgh.
Hibbett Sports has a long history of focusing on the needs of local teams and leagues, with a variety of services to meet the needs of coaches and players alike. “We have a large selection of quality branded athletic equipment, footwear and apparel with our focus on team sports (baseball, softball, basketball, football and soccer),” said Ritenburgh. “Most of our locations will also carry merchandise with the local school’s logo but what’s available to us and selection varies per store.”
Ritenburgh said that locating in the smaller towns offers the local customer all of the big city brands such as Nike, Under Armour, Reebok, Adidas, Easton and The North Face without the drive.
“We look forward to opening in Prairie du Chien and serving the area’s sporting goods needs,” said Ritenburgh.
