Georgian P. “Cookie” Halverson, 92, of Fennimore, formerly of Prairie du Chien, passed away Sunday Feb. 1, at Grant Regional Health Center Lancaster. 

She was born on March 2, 1922 in Minneapolis, Minn. to Charles and Matrona (Golvin) Vaubel. She was married on July 12, 1948, in Janesville to William E. Halverson and he preceded her in death on Oct. 28, 2012. She was a member of St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church in Prairie du Chien. 

She is survived by her children, Terry (Marilyn) Halverson of Lone Rock, Dennis (Barbara) Halverson of Boscobel, Susan (LeRoy) Grunenwald of Livingston, Dianna (Robert) Thompson of Sheboygan Falls, Barbara (Frank) Wahl of Mazomainee, Noreen Clark of Millville, Linda (James) Retrum of Holman, Tina (Peter) Beeman of Elroy, Bill Halverson of McGregor, Iowa, Valerie (Donny) Burgus of La Crosse; many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; also several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three grandchildren, two brothers, three sisters and a daughter-in-law Winnie Halverson. Georgian was a loving mother and lived her life to the fullest right to the end. Services will be held Friday, Feb. 6, at 11 a.m. at Queen of All Saints Catholic Church at 960 Jefferson St., Fennimore, with Fr. Jerry Ahanay officiating. Burial will be at the Jackson Cemetery, Iowa County. Friends may call Friday, Feb. 6 from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Queen of All Saints Catholic Church hall in Fennimore.
