David Alan Waterman, 65 of Cedar Falls, Iowa and formerly of Denver and McGregor, Iowa, died on Wednesday, Jan. 21, at the Bickford Cottage Assisted Living.

David was born March 23, 1949 in Charles City, Iowa, the son of Lloyd Wilbert Waterman and Lucile Alice (Etter) Smith. He graduated in 1967 from Nashua High School and later attended the University of Northern Iowa. David served in the United States Army from 1968 to 1970, and was stationed in Germany. He was united in marriage to Alice (AJ) Jane Chapin on June 28, 1969, and the couple later divorced. He worked for Chamberlain Manufacturing Corporation from 1967 to 1992. Afterwards, he farmed and worked at Gencor Industries/Bituma Corporation in Marquette until his retirement. David had a passion for farming and was an avid outdoorsman.

David is survived by his mother, Lucile of Waverly, Iowa; his two sons, Ryan (Debra) Waterman of Denver, Iowa and TJ (Cheyenne) Waterman of Hopkinsville, Kentucky; three grandchildren; “Uncle Dean” Etter of Nashua, Iowa; one sister, Carol Johnson, of Decatur Alabama; and two brothers, Gary Waterman of Waverly, Iowa, and Steven (Betsy) Waterman of Titusville, Fla.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 26, at the Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Waverly, with Pastor Teddy Widdel officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Nashua, with military rites provided by Ralph W. Nicholson VFW Post 6792 of Nashua. Visitation will be Sunday, Jan. 25, from 4 to 6 p.m., at Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Waverly, and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
