Loretta M. (Zach) Jelinek, 78, of Janesville, died Thursday, Jan. 1, 2015, at Mercy Hospital and Trauma Center following a brief illness. 

She was born in Bloomington, on Jan. 19, 1936, the daughter of Lawrence and Frances (Kirschbaum) Zach and was a 1954 graduate of Bloomington High School. Loretta married Arthur F. Jelinek on Oct. 6, 1956, in Glen Haven. A Janesville resident since 1956, she was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and a life member of the VFW Post 1621 Auxiliary. Loretta enjoyed sewing, traveling, baking, but most especially caring and spending time with her family.

Survivors include her husband, Arthur; four children, David (Linda) Jelinek, Dale (Laura) Jelinek, Kevin (Lori) Jelinek, and Rose Potts all of Janesville; eleven grandchildren, Chandra (Chad) Pease, Chad Jelinek, Ashley (Aaron) Ausen, Jenifer Jelinek, Travis Jelinek, Katie Jelinek, Heather Fry, Adam Jelinek, Mandi Jelinek, Cheyenne Potts and Dakota Potts; ten great grandchildren; brother, Edward (Kay) Zach of Prairie du Chien; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and a son-in-law, Donald Potts.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 8, 2015, at St. Patrick Catholic Church with Fr. James Kuhn officiating. Burial will follow in Milton Lawns Memorial Park. Visitation will take place on Wednesday from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Schneider Apfel Schneider & Schneider Funeral Home And Crematory.
